“Getting out of the house for a little while can make all the difference
in a person’s day. Through our Social Entrée Meals program,
seniors enjoy the company of others at mealtime.
Here, friendships are
forged and experiences are shared,
all while breaking bread together.”
-
Cathy Knowles, Social Entrée Meals Manager
SRA’s Social Entrée Meals program gives mobile
seniors an opportunity to interact and enjoy a hot, nutritious meal with
others. Served at lunchtime Monday through Friday at several locations
throughout Indian River County, Social Entrée Meals bring together
seniors who are not able to prepare their own meals or who simply prefer
the company of others while dining. All meals meet the highest nutrition
standards for seniors and are served in a friendly dining room atmosphere.
Diners have a chance to meet new people and share interests - in fact,
many meet friends for Social Entrée Meals on a regular
basis.
Nutrition education and counseling is offered as part of
the Social Entrée Meals program. Additional resources
may include bread or other goods donated by local grocery stores.
As needed, SRA provides transportation for seniors to one
of our Social Entrée Meals sites. Those interested
in the program are encouraged to call us and reserve their place at the
table.
